Here’s where to play this summer!

June 5 through August 14, 2024

61st Annual Nisswa Turtle Races every Wednesday! Registration starts at 1pm with a 2pm race start. The race goes until it’s over. $5.00 per racer, you will receive an official 2024 racing button and the use of a turtle with this fee. PLEASE NOTE: You cannot bring your own turtle due to regulations.

June 27-28,2024

Lakes Jam   Warm nights, cool music—there’s just something about the vibe of an outdoor concert. Lakes Jam is the area’s largest country and rock music festival held at Brainerd International Raceway (BIR).

July 1, 2024

Fireworks over Sand Island in Crosslake! 2024 marks the 54rd year the community of Crosslake has been celebrating America’s freedom with a fantastic fireworks display. Tune into Skeeter 101.5FM Radio to hear the choreographed presentation.

July 3, 2024

Nisswa Freedom Days Celebration, Parade, and Fireworks! Celebrate Freedom Days in Nisswa with a full schedule of fun! Activities throughout the day include Turtle Races, Water Wars, Live Music, Food Vendors, and more.

The Freedom Days parade starts at 7 pm. Spectators line both sides of Main Street to watch the parade, which includes various floats, marching veterans’ groups, high school marching bands, clowns, area royalty, fire trucks, car clubs, and horse-riding groups.

July 3 and 4, 2024

Pequot Lakes Stars and Stripes Days! Celebrate our nation’s independence in Pequot Lakes! You’ll find fun activities for the whole family, including food vendors, a bean bag tournament, kid’s activities, music, a craft fair, parade, fireworks, and more.

July 16 and July 17, 2024

Bean Hole Days in Pequot, Minnesota! This one-of-a-kind event is rootin’ tootin’ good fun for everyone! The huge cast iron kettles of beans are buried on Tuesday, July 16, to cook overnight and will be served on Wednesday, July 17, at noon to more than 3,000 hungry visitors. Lines form early, so purchase a 2024 Bean Hole Days mug and head to the front of the “Fast Pass for Gas” line.

The Brainerd Lakes Area is home to many fun family activities. Our amusement parks are a great addition to any visit. Stop at Paul Bunyan Land and Safari North Zoo.

Or visit one of the other family fun centers in the Brainerd Lakes area, including Pirates Cove, Nisswa Falls Mini Golf, Wild Wedge Mini GolfKart Kountry, and Nisswa Family Fun Water Park.

Paul Bunyan Trail
Enjoy hiking the Paul Bunyan Trail within 2 miles of our resort. The trail is 120 miles long, making it the longest MN bike trail, with over 1,000 caches hidden along the trail. The Paul Bunyan Trail connects the Heartland Trail, the Blue Ox Trail and the Cuyuna State Trail.

Golf
Did you know the Brainerd Lakes Area is the golf mecca of Minnesota? There are over 20 beautiful courses within close proximity to the resort and dotting the Gull Chain of Lakes, including several mini-golf courses. Considering the lush landscape of woods and wetlands, it’s easy to see why the Brainerd Golf Trail was previously ranked 41st on Golf Digest’s “Top 50 Golf Destinations in the World.”

Breezy Belle
Breezy Point Resort is home to this unique cruise experience in the form of a genuine paddle-wheeler excursion boat, the Breezy Belle. Over 4000 passengers have enjoyed the Belle’s relaxing cruises on beautiful Pelican Lake.

Hiking

Fritz Loven Park is a great place to spend an afternoon, if you’re in the Nisswa or Lakeshore area. Hiking trails, a creek, playground, and picnic pavilion make Fritz Loven Park a paradise for nature lovers.

If you’re in Pequot Lakes, the Mayo Lake Nature Preserve is a tranquil place to take in the scenery, hike the recreational trails, have a picnic, and lookout over Mayo Lake.

Brainerd International Raceway

 If you’re in to fast action, Brainerd International Raceway (BIR) will get your adrenaline pumping. BIR has racing events throughout the summer.

Brainerd Ski Loons

The Ski Loons hit the water and put on an entertaining waterski show with pyramids, ballet lines, kids ski lines, doubles, and trios. It all leads up to the high-flying stunts off the ski jump. Bring chairs and enjoy concessions.

Nisswa Area Historical Society
Enjoy a self-guided tour of the Nisswa History Center and Museum, which includes the historic Pioneer Village, Depot, and Caboose.

By touring the grounds and log homes, you will glimpse a quieter, more peaceful–but hard-working life at the turn of the century. Take time to relax in the seating area alongside the Heritage Garden, which is filled with native plants that come from local farms and gardens from over 75 years ago.

Pretty Good Shopping
Nisswa and Pequot Lakes offer unique boutique shopping and delicious dining options. You can even enjoy a movie in Pequot Lakes!

Northern Pacific Center
The Northern Pacific Center is Brainerd’s historic railroad district turned one-of-a-kind shopping and dining experience.
